The Betty White empire keeps growing. Usmagazine.com reports that the 88-year-old “It Girl” is partnering with Jerry Leigh Apparel to produce a line of T-shirts and hoodies using her image. A company executive said, “With Betty White’s star continuing to be on the rise, she was a natural fit for Jerry Leigh Apparel, as we pride ourselves on offering the most cutting edge developments in the apparel industry.” A portion of the proceeds will benefit White’s favorite charity, the Morris Animal Foundation. The clothing is currently available for $48 at HoodieBuddie.com.

Jon Bon Jovi wasn’t going to a leg injury get in his way. While performing at the New Meadowlands stadium in New Jersey this past Friday, he suffered a calf injury and was seen limping around on stage. He even had to be held up by his bandmates while walking off stage, but is doing fine.

According to the Star-Ledger, his rep released a statement saying, “Near the end of Bon Jovi’s two-and-a-half hour show at New Meadowlands Stadium on Friday night, Jon Bon Jovi sustained a torn calf muscle. Jon made light of the injury and went on to close the show with their anthemic hit, ‘Living On a Prayer.’ The band ended the night together, thanking the capacity home-town crowd, and assisting Jon off the stage. The injury will not prevent Bon Jovi from playing any of their upcoming stadium dates this summer.”

Rob Pattinson’s success in the Twilight saga should come as no surprise — since he’s apparently related to a famous vampire!

Researchers at Ancestry.co.uk revealed that the 24-year-old actor has ties to Vlad III Dracula, a.k.a. Vlad the Impaler, the Transylvanian leader widely thought to be the inspiration for the main character in Bram Stoker’s legendary 1897 novel Dracula.

Supposedly, the tie between Pattinson and Vlad comes from their common relationship to the British royal family. England’s Prince William and Prince Harry are Pattinson’s distant cousins and Vlad the Impaler was their distant uncle.

Workplace Buzzwords Be Gone!

Appearing a little foolish isn’t the only danger of using worn-out buzzwords. You can also confuse people if your industry jargon is unfamiliar to them. This is especially true in the workplace.

A Robert Half survey recently identified the most common workplace buzzwords. Following are just a small handful. Are you guilty of using the following terms?

· Game changer — As in, “Transitioning from products to solutions was a game changer for our company.”

· Value-add — As in, “We have to evaluate the value-add of this initiative before we invest more.”

Singing the Star Spangled Banner isn’t always an easy task, and when Anita Baker was put to the challenge at Game Four of NBA Finals last week, she faced some criticism for her performance. Now John Mayer has taken to his blog to defend Baker, explaining, “I feel badly that Anita Baker is taking flak for her performance of the Star Spangled Banner at game 4 of the NBA Finals. That song is technically one of the most difficult songs to do justice to, and it’s almost always performed in high-anxiety situations. I know Francis Scott Key is known as the song’s composer but I have reason to believe it was actually written by an evil Texas Instruments graphing calculator.”
