5 DOABLE RESOLUTONS THAT WILL GET YOU IN SHAPE (Glamour)

1. Slim down with water! Whether you want to maintain your weight, or maybe lose 10 pounds this year, put good-old H2O to work, say researchers. A recent study found that people who drank two glasses of water before sitting down for a meal took in more calories than those who dove right in. Make it your new eating habit!
2. Buy a healthy cookbook or healthy living book: Your assignment: Head to your local bookstore and hit the healthy living/diet/cooking section. Find a book that resonates with you–whether it’s about exercise or vegetarian cooking–and read it in January to pick up some new healthy living tips.
3. Update your fitness wardrobe: I know it’s silly, but I have more motivation to run/workout when I actually like my fitness clothes. Nope, don’t spend a fortune, but invest in a good pair of sneaks that you love and hit up Old Navy or Target for a few cute workout tops and active bottoms to start your year off right.
4. Start drinking green tea: There seems to be no limit to what this ancient tea can do for your health (from giving you gorgeous skin to helping ward off cancer). Why not make a pot today?
5. Pick up a sort of granola/hippy/New Agey health practice: No, no, no–I am so not sitting cross legged in meditation pose here, nor am I into chanting or colon cleanses, but I do think some of the self-care and health practices that come out of the more “natural” health arenas can do a body good–or at least get you focused on living a more healthful life. Whether it’s picking up a new herbal tea at a local health food store, or getting into dry brushing (who knows if it works–it feels good!), sometimes picking up on a (safe) holistic or natural health practice can help you remember to care for yourself in healthy ways. Always a good thing!

SIGNS YOU SHOULD DUMP HIM BY NEW YEAR’S (Cosmopolitan)

1. When you ask to speak to him about moving in together, he schedules the talk for next summer.
2. Each time after you sleep together, he grabs a private notebook from his bag and scribbles something in it, giggling.
3. His friends call him by the nickname of “Cheaty McGee”.
4. He loves to touch you and kiss you and will do so just as soon as he powers up and finishes killing these level-four zombies. Die, video zombies, die!
5. His ring tone is “Baby Got Back.”
6. The guy’s elaborate excuse for not spending the holidays together includes training for an Ironman competition.
7. Mr. Reality still entertains the idea that he could be a “stripper choreographer.”
8. He’s already written a scathing tell-all memoir of your relationship — and you’ve only been dating for two months.
9. He calls your mom “Mrs. Robinson” and stares at her way too intensely.
10. The big spender usually splurges and buys you awesome gifts, so it’d be a real shame to dump him before Christmas.

Greetings my fellow Memphians!
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas this year! As we approach the end of 2010, Lets take a minute to reflect on the positive things around us and be thankful for what we have in this wonderful city called Memphis. I’d like to personally thank you, dear listener, for letting me be your companion on your way home each afternoon. I like to think of the new year as a clean canvas. One that we can add new and exciting colors and images to. May the picture we paint of 2011 be as beautiful as it can be, and may you and your family enjoy all the amazing possibilities that each new year brings. May God bless you with peace, health and love in the coming year.  Bill

Season’s Greetings my fellow Memphians!
Well, it won’t be long ’til Santa’s big day, and I hope you’ve been good boys and girls this year. I want to thank everyone for the warm reception I got while on stage at the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert at FedEx Forum! Wow! What a show! The Bannisters had a great weekend. My oldest daughter Catie and her S.O. Craig came down to visit with 2 of my grandsons, Phillip and Zack. Savannah was thrilled to have other kids to play with too! It was a weekend of pizza, ice cream and Yo Gabba Gabba. We took in Zoo Lights at the Memphis Zoo and it’s something I think you and your family should do while it’s on. Amanda and I are big fans of the real Santa Claus on Wells Station(If you want to know more about the real Santa, watch my video on UNDERGROUND MEMPHIS) I can’t wait! All this week I’ve got Starry Nights passes and gift certificates to Itta Bena, one of my favorite downtown restaurants, so listen to win! Have a great week and keep it on The River!  ;-) Bill
