Greeting my fellow Memphians!
Well, the weekend is finally here! Friday has always been my favorite weekday, and you’ll be glad to know that we are set to break this September heat wave once and for all in the next couple of days. With highs in the 80s Saturday and Sunday, it’ll be the perfect weekend to get out of the house for some family fun! The Bannisters are going to take in the BIG SCOOP ICE CREAM FESTIVAL at Autozone Park Saturday. It’s a benefit for Ronald McDonald House, so if you like ice cream (and who doesn’t), come on out and join us! It’s been a while since we’ve had a big old juicy steak, so I’m seriously considering a trip to Charlies Meat Market on Summer for a Sunday afternoon backyard cookout. I hope you and your family have a really great weekend. Coming soon on Underground Memphis, our October Haunted Memphis series begins with a trip to historic Elmwood Cemetery. Thanks for listening friends! Your ride home, Bill

Greetings fellow Memphians!
Wow! What a weekend! Another HUGE Cooper-Young festival for the books! I’ve heard  attendance estimates of up to 85,000, and if you were there, you know it sure felt like a record crowd. Thanks to everyone who came by to see us. Amanda and I always love hanging out in our old neighborhood, and the weather was perfect! Sunday we took Savannah to the park for an up-close encounter with some ducks where she discovered a wonderful invention called a swing. I’ve never seen her have that much fun! It’s times like that I realize how truly rich and blessed we are. Back home I got to fire up the Bannister grill for some burgers. I hope you and your family had a great weekend. Now here we are back at work, but there’s a lot to look forward to till we get to the next weekend. All week long I’ve got tickets to this year’s Big Scoop Ice Cream Festival at Autozone Park, plus Jim, Heather and myself will make sure you get home quick, safe, and with a smile on your face! Keep us FIRST on your pre-set buttons. In fact, just set ‘em ALL to WRVR 104.5 The River!

lt;pgt;Delilah,lt;/pgt; lt;pgt;I am writing you because I know where your heart is, and I know if you are able, you will help. Snowball Express is an awesome organization that brings happiness to the children of our fallen heroes since 9/11. I have had the pleasure of volunteering for this event and I cant tell you how moving it is. Unfortunately there is a problem; this organization does not receive a lot of media support, and in fact many families of fallen loved ones dont even know about it. Many of the families will again miss out on this event due to a lack of public information. This is much bigger than a few days trip to Dallas; it gives families the chance to meet other families that have lost a parent. It gives the parents a network of support with other families. Words can not describe what this organization provides for these families and the new memories this event creates. We need to get the word out to these families so that they too can become a family member of the SBE. Also this organization needs support, and what better way to share this information than your show. Delilah, you touch millions of lives with your broadcast, and I could not think of anyone better to share the word about SBE. If you have not heard of this organization I ask you to look at the site: lt;a href=http://www.snowballexpress.org/ target=_blankgt;www.snowballexpress.orglt;/agt;.lt;/pgt; lt;pgt;Snowball Express V Eventlt;br /gt;Dallas, Texaslt;br /gt;December 9-13lt;br /gt;lt;a href=http://www.snowballexpress.org/ target=_blankgt;See Web site for complete detailslt;/agt;lt;/pgt; lt;pgt;Bobbylt;/pgt;

Taylor Swift had been flying under the radar until Sunday’s (September 12th) MTV Video Music Awards appearance. She has spent the past few months wrapped up in her upcoming Speak Now CD, which will be released on October 25th, but she has managed to squeeze in a little shopping time, as Taylor says: “I haven’t really penciled in much time off. I think, for me, like, I’m just am obsessed with being in the studio, so that’s what I’ve been doing lately, but I guess the time off category would fall into, like, going into antique stores and buying old frames, and I like mason jars. I go to these antique stores and they usually have, like, old mason jars under the counter, and I like to go and buy those cause I think they’re really pretty to just have around.”

What do you collect?

Greetings fellow Memphians!
It’s great to be back in Memphis! We had a really great time in Ireland. Saw a lot of really beautiful places and met some wonderful people, but if we never see another stew or cottage pie or bowl of porridge I think we’ll be just fine. When it comes to good eats, our city is tops in the world! The Bannisters took in the Delta Fair this past weekend and oh my GOD, you just can’t beat deep fried Snickers bars, Pronto Pups painted with yellow mustard, rosted corn on the cob, and ice cold lemonade. If the Irish had food like that back in the day, they’d have kicked Oliver Cromwell clear back to England. ( Or they could have fed it to the English till it clogged all their arteries, either way). It’s a big week for family fun here in WRVR land! We’re taking our big Listener Lunch to Southaven Town Center wednesday at noon, so plan to come out and eat for free! Then Saturday, the event we wait for all year long, the 2010 Cooper Young Festival, smack dab in the middle of the Bann’s old neighborhood! Keep your radio tuned to WRVR 104.5 The River all week long for your ride home. Heather York, Jim Jaggers and me will get you home easy breezy!

Greetings fellow Memphians!
Hope you have a GREAT Labor Day weekend! The weather forecast looks really sweet and it’ll be the perfect weekend for a trip to the lake, or a big backyard cookout! Remember when you’re shopping for that perfect slab of carnivorous delight to toss on your grill, be sure to head down Summer avenue and see my friend Chuck Hogan at the Holy Grail of meat, Charlies Meat Market. Be sure to tell him I sent you by. We swear by Charlie’s and I wouldn’t steer you wrong friends. Amanda and I are on vacation next week, taking in a few days in Ireland. Pam Yates will be in for your afternoon ride home, and she’ll have lots of great stuff for you! I almost hate to leave and miss the Delta Fair, but I’ll have a pint of Guinness for ya!  Slan, Bill
