Greetings my fellow Memphians!
I always get a little sad this time of year as I realize the days are starting to get shorter and shorter. Fall won’t be far behind, but we’ve still got enough summer left to enjoy getting out of the house for a family outing. This weekend the Bannisters (Who are devoted fans of Indian food) have decided to take in India Fest 2010 at the Agricenter! It’s gonna be a fun event for the whole family! Delicious Indian Cuisine, Vibrant Indian fashion, and exotic jewelry and accesories! Even Dance workshops and Yoga sessions. Live cooking demos too!  Saturday from 10-6 at The Agricenter. We’ll see you there! Have a great weekend!

Lost may be over, but fans are still as zealous about the show as ever. Props from the show were auctioned off over the weekend, netting over $1.8 million.

Someone shelled out $47,500 for the Dharma van Hurley drove in season three, while another super-fan paid $27,500 for the Lighthouse Wheel that linked the castaways and their numbers.

Well it seems like a done deal — Steven Tyler will be among the judges for season 10 of Fox’s American Idol. Despite no official announcement from either Fox or Tyler’s management, Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton confirmed the long-rumored deal, telling The New Jersey Star-Ledger, “Steven is doing American Idol. The ink is dry on that. So, we’ll have to work around his schedule for a new record.”

Meanwhile, there’s controversy surrounding what appears to be footage of Joe Perry bumping Tyler offstage on Tuesday night (August 17th) at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. TMZ.com posted the fan footage shot during “Love In The Elevator” when Tyler and Perry were performing on an extended stage ramp. After Tyler playfully bumps a soloing Perry, Perry — who was not facing Tyler — bumps him back, sending Tyler head-first into the crowd. Perry eventually helps Tyler back on stage and Tyler gives him a playful twirl.

Greetings my fellow Memphians!
Just landed at JFK airport after an incredible trip to Ukraine where we met our eastern bloc family for the very first time. We made the front page of the local paper upon our arrival, and I even made an appearance on Ukrainian TV! If you would like to hear more about our journey and the amazing story that inspired it, you can join my sister Elizabeth and I at the Jewish Community Center on Aaron Brenner drive off Poplar Sunday morning August 22nd at 10:30am for what promises to be a very interesting get together. It’s GREAT to be back home in Memphis with my girls! And I’ve got a lot of stuff coming up that you definitely want to be a part of! Tomorrow morning (Sat 8/14) I’ll be doing a live broadcast from the Memphis Symphony’s SYMPHONY ON THE SIDEWALK. Meet the new Memphis Symphony music director Mei-Ann Chen, and enjoy goodies from Whole Food, Luchessi’s, Ben and Jerry’s, Folks Folly and more! We’ll have a moon bounce for the kids and Malco Movie Passes, plus tickets to see Joshua Bell live with the MSO! Next week on my show I’ve got tickets to Rob Thomas at Harrahs, and Monday a live in-studio interview with one of my favorite WRVR artists Jim Brickman! FRIDAY THE 13th SUPERSTITIONS:

The curses that surround Friday the 13th range from sailors and fishermen being wary of going out to sea to beliefs that hearing any piece of news on the day would add a wrinkle to your face.

In 1913, New York pastor Charles Reynolds even offered to marry couples for free, if they dared to challenge the superstitions.

An extreme superstition is that if you have 13 people who sit down to a meal together, all will die within a year.

Throughout history, many of the world’s most notorious killers have had exactly 13 letters in their names, such as Jack the Ripper, Jeffrey Dahmer, Theodore Bundy, and Charles Manson.

Throughout history, May 13th has seen Pope John Paul II shot and seriously wounded in Rome in 1981, Vice-President Richard Nixon attacked in Latin America in 1958, and Winston Churchill promising Parliament “to wage war, by sea, land and air with all our might and strength that God can give” in 1940.

Finally, in 1993, a study in the British Medical Journal concluded that the “risk of a transport accident on Friday the 13th may be increased by as much as 52% and that staying at home was recommended.”

FRIDAY THE 13th ODDITIES:

More than 80 percent of high-rises lack a 13th floor.
Many airports skip the 13th gate.
Some airplanes have no 13th row of seats.
Hospitals and hotels regularly have no room number 13.
Italians omit the number 13 from their national lottery.
On streets in Florence, Italy, the house between number 12 and 14 is addressed as 12 and a half.
Many cities do not have a 13th Street or a 13th Avenue.
In France, socialites known as the quatorziens (fourteeners) once made themselves available as 14th guests to keep a dinner party from an unlucky fate.
If you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the devil’s luck. Jack the Ripper, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, Theodore Bundy, and Albert De Salvo all have 13 letters in their names.

Are you kidding?? 5 million bucks a year, to sit on glamorous TV set, and ask cream puff, softballs questions to celebs??? WOW!

MARY HART TAKES A PAY CUT: Mary Hart reportedly took a pay cut of up to 50 percent in order to keep her job as co-host of Entertainment Tonight for one more season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But here’s the astonishing part. Hart was apparently making $5 million a year! Which might explain why they’re looking for a new host to replace her after 29 years on the syndicated show. CBS Television Distribution declined to comment. With syndication and advertising revenues falling, there may be few such superstar salaries in the future, on ET or anywhere else.

I think I’ll sleep better knowing that she’s only making 2.5 million… Great!
