Christie Brinkley and Alexa Ray Joel reportedly did some mother-daughter bonding earlier this month — over plastic surgery. Star magazine claims that Brinkley had a mini face-lift, while doctors performed a nose job on 24-year-old Alexa.

Brinkley hasn’t commented on her supposed procedure, but Alexa confirmed her surgery.

  • She told People magazine, “I was thinking about getting this for years,” adding that her nose, “always bothered me a little bit. I was self-conscious of pictures taken from the side. To some people that’s vain, but at the end of the day, we all want to feel pretty.”
  • Joel claims that she’s done with surgery, explaining, “Would I do anything else to my body? No. It’s not ten procedures like Heidi Montag. For me, that’s a little extreme, but to each her own.”

Julia Roberts has been named People magazine’s Most Beautiful Person. This marks the fourth time she’s been given the honor, and the 12th time she’s been named to the magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful list.

Only Halle Berry, who this year makes her 14th appearance on the list, has been recognized more often.

Hi Friends and neighbors!
Well, we’re getting closer to one of the biggest parties on the planet. Yes, the big Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival in this weekend! The line-up this year includes some pretty big names too. Hall and oates, Colbie Caillat, The B-52s, Earth Wind and Fire, and Michael McDonald just to name a few. Hopefully we can have a good weekend weatherwise this year so we don’t become Memphis in Mud as happens so many times. Speaking of the weather, is it just me, or does our weather seem to be getting more volatile and unstable lately? Our prayers go out to the folks just south of us who got hit with the brunt of last weekend’s tornadoes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSa8vc5UqZY. Amanda and I talked a great deal about the fact that we seem to be experiencing more violent weather these past few years, and we decided it was better to be safe than sorry when it came to our family’s safety. We made the decision to install a tornado safe room in our garage just in case. The one we went with is FEMA rated to withstand a windload of 450 MPH, has been tested with a 2×4 shot at it at 100 MPH, and it’s even bulletproof. We can get 4 people in there with Savannah and our dog Bagel too. After this past weekend we feel very good about what we decided to do. If you would like to find out more about tornado safe rooms, drop me an e-mail and I’ll point you in the right direction. bbannister@wrvr.com . I’ll be looking for you down on the river this weekend rain or shine. Just get some boots ready. Heck it’s actually kind of fun to get a little wet sometimes. Besides, the Blues just sounds better in the rain. :-) Party on Memphis! Bill

Greetings friends and neighbors!
Hope you had a great weekend! It certainly came in like a lion and out like a lamb here in Memphis didn’t it? The Banns spent the whole day Saturday around the house watching the weather and wishing it was sunny. We did venture out to Kroger to pick up a few things and swung by KFC for lunch. I don’t know if you’ve tried this new  Double Down sandwich they’ve been advertising, but we just had to give it a shot. All I can say is OH MY GOD! It’s the first sandwich I’ve ever eaten that’s served without a bun. That’s right friends NO BUN! It’s just two pieces of fried chicken with two thick slices of bacon, melted Monterey Jack and Pepper Jack cheese and the Colonel’s special sauce. This sort of thing should be against the law. It’s certainly some kind of semi-mortal sin at best. In fact I’m still feeling guilty. Saturday night I had the distinct honor of being an auctioneer at Carnival Memphis’ Krewes for Kids fundraiser at The University Club. Many thanks to Ed Galfsky and the wonderful folks at Carnival Memphis for allowing me to be a part of this great event. A good time was had by all and lots of money was raised for Knowledge Quest, Memphis Child Advocacy Center, and Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center. After work Sunday we took in another fun day at the zoo, and Savannah had her first taste of Dippin’ Dots, which she loved! Hey, stick with me all this week for the ride home, cause I’ve got more Beale Street Music Festival tickets to give away with TV TOONS TRIVIA. Have a marleous week and keep the faith Memphis! :-) Bill

Taylor Swift is a regular fixture in the music history books, but now she’s going to be featured in another book — a comic book, in fact. The superstar will be featured in a 32-page book set for release in July as part of Bluewater Comics’ Fame book. The story dates back to Taylor’s early beginnings as a songwriter at age 10, and follows her meteoric rise to the top. It also depicts her personal life, including Taylor’s well-documented break up with Jonas Brothers star Joe Jonas.

Other celebs who have gotten the Fame comic treatment include Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Lady Gaga.

Tina Fey and Sheryl Crow lived out every woman’s nightmare at Monday’s (April 19th) 2010 Matrix Awards, showing up on the red carpet in nearly identical dresses.

What??  Um, I don’t think so. .. Hey, where are my drapes??!!

The ladies both sported floral-print Dolce & Gabbana frocks, which a company rep tried to claim “wasn’t really the same dress” since Tina’s is a halter style while Sheryl’s has a high neck.

  • Both handled the situation gracefully. When she took the stage, Tina joked, “If you want to see what this dress looks like on a surfer body, look over there. I wear it with a sweater.” Crow was equally modest, telling the crowd, “If we wind up in one of those ‘Who Wore It Best’ things, I’m picking Tina.”
